Create has a high skill ceiling, but also a very very low skill floor, so new players can rely on the pot luck element and not develop their strategy and game sense. You see, when you create stuff, you can't consider strategy without knowing what the create card can create and what each of those cards do. I started off playing with it and was enjoying the game, but for the last three weeks I built a deck that doesn't use it, and I've been enjoying the game even more! I've only been playing since Christmas, so I've only known the game with this mechanic in it. Everyone else is giving you good advice, but this is a thing I've noticed that people aren't bringing attention to.Ī lot of people here really hate create because they don't like the random nature of the cards that the mechanic brings, but I think it's even more harmful for new players for different reasons. I would say don't use cards with the CREATE tag. Right now I would say that Alchemy Nilfgaard, Northern Realms armor, Dagon fog/deathwish, or Scoitael Dwarves are a great deck to try to build towards. This will let you be more dynamic in collecting cards. I am not sure if you have started this yet, but when opening kegs, try to stick to 2 primary factions that you want to build out, and maybe another tertiary faction of choice. 1) you can homebrew and explore combos and possibilities on your own, or you can check out and get decks that people have created from there. You can choose a few different paths in making a deck. This gives you more reliability and consistency for executing your game plan. In general you want to keep the number of cards in your deck right at 25. He'll go over deck building and tactics for your faction of choice.ĭepending on how far back you go some of his videos are made in an older build of Gwent so heads up about that. I recommend checking out King Black Toofs videos. If you have more advice to give, please don't be afraid to contribute as this thread serves to help more than myself. In essence, does anyone know of any in-depth guides for complete noobs? Any advice for a dumb fanboy? Any help is greatly appreciated!ĮDIT: Thank you to all who commented with advice! Nobody told you to help a random stranger today and you all did! I really appreciate the advice and will check out everything mentioned tonight, before I stream the game some more (Shameless Plug: Brandooo_TV for those interested!).

I want to be able to start crafting my own decks soon, since the starter deck can only get you so far, but don't know squat about how to structure one. I have recently been playing the Scoiatel starter deck and have been doing decent with it but, I don't know, I feel something is missing. I am loving the game so far (half for the references to Witcher characters and half for the gameplay) but still feel I lack a critical understanding behind the strategy in the game. I spent the $5 on the starter pack (hypocritical, I know) to gain a nice start and have been playing for a couple weeks. I first tried my hand at Hearthstone a few months ago, as I am a huge Warcraft fan, but was discouraged by the need to purchase so many expansion packs to remain at the front.

I come from a mainly FPS background but enjoy a good strategy game. After having put countless hours into the Witcher 3, and currently 6/7 for the books, I finally stumbled upon Gwent a couple weeks ago. I'm Brandooo and I am new to the Gwent community.
